This is one of the only detox retreats situated on the doorstep of an underwater national park, the Bazaruto Archipelago, so the wellness journey is bookended by genuine marine wilderness rather than a generic resort backdrop. The mid-week excursion aboard the Mothassane to the two-mile reef and the archipelago's dunes isn't an add-on; it's built into the program as a full day, giving guests a reason to leave the treatment table and experience the landscape that makes this stretch of southern African coastline so distinctive. The therapeutic approach is also rooted specifically in Mozambique rather than borrowed from a standard international spa menu. Moringa, coconut, baobab, aloe vera, and raw honey structure the entire week, moving guests from toxin release in the early days to deep hydration and rejuvenation by the end. Combined with a daily reflexology practice that runs the full length of the stay and a kitchen built entirely around a healthy menu philosophy, the retreat treats cleansing as a full week-long process rather than a single spa day repeated seven times. Finally, the setting itself does real work. With panoramic archipelago views, the physical environment supports the same sense of quiet and space the program is trying to create internally. - Day 1Arrival and Welcome day
Full body relaxation massage
- Day 2A DAY TO DECOMPRESS AND DETOX THE BODY
This day includes a rasul mud treatment followed by a deep hot stone massage that will help open your pores and promote the stimulation of the detoxification process. After a refreshing lunch you will have your first reflexology session.
- Day 3FREE DAY
After the first two days of treatments and special meal plan, your body will feel the need to relax while the detox takes place. Nurture yourself attending any of our yoga or fitness classes, a sweaty gym workout or just relaxing by the pool. Your reflexology treatment will take place at the end of the day.
- Day 4A DAY TO HYDRATE THE BODY
This day includes a hydrating body wrap, followed by a coconut rituals. After enjoying your lunch, you will indulge in a hydrating facial and a well deserved session of reflexology.
- Day 5A DAY TO DISCOVER THE BEAUTY OF THE BAZARUTO ISLANDS
Embarking on our beautiful and comfortable boat "Mothassane" you will be treated in luxury while you visit the famous 2 mile reef and climb the dunes of this well known paradise!
- Day 6A DAY TO FOR REBALANCE
This day is devoted to a complete re-balance that will bring you a sense of general harmonization. It begins with a holistic ayurvedic massage followed by a face and head massage. You will then be served with a light meal from the menu and detox fruit juice. To end your day in style you will have your reflexology session promoting your balance and making you feel grounded.
- Day 7A DAY TO FOR TOTAL REJUVENATION
This day is inspired by the healing powers of the local fruit baobab. A body wrap with baobab, raw local honey and aloe vera will promote the rejuvenation of your skin cells, will indulge your body systems with vitamin C and will leave your skin soft and smooth. An anti-ageing facial and another session of reflexology will end your program in style.
- Day 8DEPARTURE DAY - ENERGISE!
On the morning of your last day you will experience the Bahia Mar Signature Massage. This special massage is performed using water to promote endless sensations that will energise your body and will leave you ready to go back home.
Accommodation
Bahia Mar Boutique Hotel offers three accommodation categories, each set on an elevated plateau with panoramic views over the Bazaruto Archipelago. Garden Suites are surrounded by lush, bird-filled indigenous gardens rather than direct ocean views, offering a private pied-à-terre bedroom with a super king-sized bed (convertible to two ¾ twin beds), a lounge, and a private terrace in the cashew nut tree garden. Two units have inter-leading rooms, making them well suited to families or friends travelling together. Sea View bedrooms feature an en-suite queen bedroom with a large veranda and sun beds, looking directly out over the Bazaruto islands — a good middle option for guests who want the ocean view without the full suite footprint. Luxury Beach Suites are the top-tier option: a self-catering, pied-à-terre unit with a king-sized bed, TV lounge, fully equipped kitchenette, private barbecue, terrace with sunbeds, and a private splash pool. All rooms are air-conditioned and include free Wi-Fi, a kettle with coffee and tea, a mini-bar, bath towels and robes, a hair dryer, a personal safe, and a TV, along with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash, hand lotion, and a toothbrush.

There are also flights from Maputo, and also from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (MQP), a great combination for a safari & retreat holiday.
