A day at the retreat

Essence Arenal is approximately 35–40 minutes from La Fortuna. Guests can arrive by private transfer, shared shuttle, rental car, taxi, or public bus from San José or Liberia airports. We recommend booking transportation in advance and arriving before 6:00 PM for a smooth check-in. Free parking is available on-site.

The Essence Arenal team is made up of experienced wellness hosts, certified yoga instructors, local nature guides, and hospitality professionals dedicated to creating meaningful experiences in Costa Rica's rainforest. - %On your arrival the transfer options are: -Arrival by taxi / bus %Take a taxi to the Terminal Atlántico Norte bus station, located on Avenue 9, Street 12. From there, take a bus to Ciudad Quesada, San Carlos. Buses depart approximately every 2 hours. Get off at the bus terminal in Ciudad Quesada and take another bus to La Fortuna. From La Fortuna, you can take a taxi or an uber to Essence Arenal, or there is another public bus at 5:00 pm that comes to El Castillo, Please note that on public holidays and Sundays, the bus does not operate. From the place where the bus drops you off, you have to walk 600 meters to their place. -Arrival by private transfer %It has a cost of 160 USD per way from SJO or Liberia Airport. The payment has to be by cash and it’s directly to the driver (US dollars or Costa Rican Colones). The schedule is flexible, you can choose the preferred hour for you, the transfer duration takes around 3 and a half hours. There will have additional charges in the transfer: 20 EUR extra for trips between 19:00 and 04:00 and extra passengers has an additional cost of 10 USD per person. -Arrival by shuttle %The company works with dynamic prices but normally it cost around 67.80 USD per person or maybe more per way. The payment for the transfer must be made in advance via a secure payment link provided by the transportation company. The schedule is established by the company: *From Liberia to Essence: 09:00 *From SJO Airport to Essence: 07:00 – 08:15 or 13:10–14:15, depending on your location %On your departure, the transfer options are: *Private Transfer (same conditions as arrival) *Shuttle Transfer: The company works with dynamic prices but normally it cost around $67.80 per person or maybe more per way. The payment for the transfer must be made in advance via a secure payment link provided by the transportation company. The schedule is established by the company *To SJO Airport: Pick-up at 06:50 or 12:10 (trip takes around 4 hours) *To Liberia Airport: Pick-up at 07:00 AM (trip takes around 4 hours) %They just need to know which option works for you and your flight information to proceed with arrange your transportation.
