About this retreat

This 10-day guided motorcycle tour from Delhi takes intermediate riders deep into India's Himalayan landscape aboard a rented Royal Enfield, covering 1,165 kilometres of asphalt and off-road terrain through Himachal Pradesh and Spiti Valley. Your journey begins with airport pickup at Indira Gandhi International Airport and a transfer to your Delhi hotel. On day two, a private minibus carries you to Shimla, where you meet your bike and team over refreshments amid pine and cedar forest. The riding adventure unfolds along the Hindustan-Tibet Highway toward Sarahan and Kalpa, where ancient temples and apple orchards sit beneath the Kinner Kailash peaks. A 24/7 support team follows in a 4x4 backup vehicle, and an experienced road captain leads every stage. Spiti Valley brings the tour's highest moments. You ride to Komic, one of the world's highest motorable villages, post a card from Hikkim's legendary post office, and visit centuries-old monasteries at Tabo, Dhankar, and Ki. Wildlife sightings are possible around Kibber and Langza. A night at a safari-style camp near the crescent-shaped Chandrataal Lake offers star-filled skies after crossing Kunzum Pass. The route then continues through the Rohtang Atal Tunnel, the longest high-altitude tunnel on the planet, descending to Manali for a leisurely final day. Nine nights of accommodation span three- and four-star boutique hotels and one night under canvas. Buffet breakfast and dinner are included daily, with water provided and both vegetarian and regular menus available. Groups range from four to ten riders, with instruction in English and French support. Your guide, Sandy, grew up in the Himalayan foothills and has spent a decade leading travellers through these mountains. His local knowledge and genuine passion for the region turn every pass, monastery, and riverside village into a story you'll carry home long after the engine cools.

Full programme

  1. Day 1Arrive in Delhi

    Upon arrival at Delhi International Airport, you will meet your tour representative and transfer to your hotel.

  2. Day 2Delhi to Shimla: 340 km/211 miles — 6-7 hrs

    After breakfast, board a private minibus and travel to Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Enjoy scenic views of the Himalayan foothills. In the afternoon, arrive at a hotel surrounded by pine and cedar trees. After refreshments, meet the team for an introduction to the upcoming journey. Get familiar with your Royal Enfield motorcycle and mountain traffic.

  3. Day 3Shimla to Sarahan: 160 km/99 miles — 6-7 hrs

    Begin your journey towards Sarahan on zigzag roads. Sarahan, a picturesque town at 2,300 meters, was the old capital of the Bushahr region. Explore its traditional architecture, including the Bhimakali Temple, and attend the evening aarti ceremony. End the day with dinner at your hotel.

  4. Day 4Sarahan to Kalpa: 95 km/59 miles — 3-4 hrs

    Start the day with a view of the Srikhand Peak. After breakfast, leave for Kalpa, traveling along the legendary Hindustan-Tibet Highway. Obtain the inner-line permit to enter the International Line of Control zone of Spiti Valley. Kalpa, known for its apple and cherry orchards, offers mesmerizing views of the Kinner Kailash mountains.

  5. Day 5Kalpa to Tabo: 170 km/106 miles — 5-6 hrs

    Travel to Tabo in Spiti Valley, stopping to admire villages like Pooh and Sumdho along the Spiti River. Enjoy lunch at Nako and visit the 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery upon arrival.

  6. Day 6Tabo to Komic to Kaza: 90 km/56 miles — 5-6 hrs

    After breakfast, ride to Kaza via Dhankar, home to a clifftop monastery with stunning views of the Spiti River. Continue to Komic, the highest motorable village in the world, and visit Hikkim, home to the highest post office. End the day in Kaza after visiting the largest Buddha statue in the region.
